Kansas Secretary of State Receives Certificate of Nominations from Republican National Committee

Wednesday, July 24, 2024

TOPEKA – Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab today announced that the office had received the official certificate of nominations of former President Donald J. Trump and Senator J.D. Vance as Republican nominees for the office of president and vice president of the United States.

Trump and Vance’s names will be placed on the November 5 general election ballot. The certificate of nominations, attested by the convention chair and secretary, reflects the delegate vote at the national convention held last week in Milwaukee.

Certification of the Democratic National Committee’s nominee will be sent to the Kansas Secretary of State’s office following the party’s convention in August to be held in Chicago.

Each political party has until September 1 to submit the names of its presidential electors to the Kansas Secretary of State’s office. Under Kansas law there is no deadline for the national parties to certify their nominees for the office of president. However, ballots must be sent 45 days in advance of the general election to Kansans serving in the military and living overseas.
