BIGGS REMINDS KANSANS TO MAIL BACK CENSUS FORMS
TOPEKA, KS – Today, on National Census Day, Kansas Secretary of State Chris Biggs reminded citizens to complete and return their 2010 Census forms.
“Don’t be an April fool – fill out your census form,” said Biggs. “Your responses are used to help determine congressional representation, and most importantly, the distribution of federal funds. The ten minutes you take today to return your completed census questionnaire could have a lasting and meaningful impact on your community and the state of Kansas.”
Census data is used to apportion seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and to distribute more than $400 billion in federal funds annually, to be spent on infrastructure and services including hospitals, bridges, schools, and emergency services. All census responses are confidential. Answers are protected by law and cannot be shared with anyone.
