Information About Filing a UCC
How to File Online
A subscription is required to file and search Kansas UCCs online. The subscription must have an account name, which may be a business or individual name, but the account name is not legally linked to any filed or searched UCC. It is simply a way to access the Kansas UCC database electronically.
The contact name provided will become the first online account administrator. This admin may add other user accounts and run financial reports for the subscription, as well as file and search UCCs in the Kansas UCC database. The contact will be emailed instructions on how to login to the online system generally within 2 - 3 business days after emailing the application.
Account Administrators
The account admin is responsible for adding and revoking other user accounts. It is possible to have more than one account admin per subscription, and to promote and demote current users to and from admin status. We recommend at least two account admins, since most functions of the account are managed by the users, not the Secretary of State, and more than one admin provides backup functionality for the users.
The account admin has the exclusive ability to add and remove payment options for user accounts, to access UCC information for any users, and limit account access to any other user accounts. Review the UCC User Manual for all information on what the admin may do.
User Accounts
An account admin is responsible for creating other user accounts for the subscription. Non-admin or “view” users are limited to filing UCCs and searching for UCCs. Review the UCC User Manual for all information on what the user may be able to do.
