Secretary of State's Office Initiates the Post-Election Audit Process

Tuesday, August 6, 2024

TOPEKA – In accordance with K.S.A. 25-3009, the Office of Secretary of State will conduct the random selection of races to be audited for the 2024 primary election. The selection will take place at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at the Secretary of State’s office in Topeka.

“Post-election audits promote transparency and provide an additional verification of election results,” said Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab.

Following the Secretary of State’s random selection, each of the 105 Kansas counties will begin a manual count of paper ballots from the races selected for audit to ensure the vote total matches the tabulator count. The random selection by the Secretary of State’s office and the county audits are open to the public.
