Secretary Schwab Announces Agreement with Texas to Strengthen Voter Rolls
Thursday, September 18, 2025
TOPEKA – Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab today announced a new agreement with the state of Texas to improve the accuracy of voter registration records by identifying individuals who have moved and may still be registered in both states.
Under the agreement, Kansas and Texas will securely share voter registration information to help ensure that voters who have relocated are accurately reflected in each state’s voter rolls. This collaboration supports both election integrity and efficient election administration.
“Maintaining accurate voter rolls is one of the most important responsibilities of the Secretary of State’s office,” Schwab said. “This agreement helps ensure that when voters move to another state, their previous registration can be appropriately updated or canceled, as allowed by law.”
Schwab noted that this type of agreement reflects a growing national trend of states working directly with one another to strengthen voter roll maintenance.
“This is a common-sense step toward cleaner rolls and better election administration,” Schwab said. “We look forward to establishing agreements with other states in the future.”
