Friday, October 2, 2026
TOPEKA – Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab announced another graduating class of the Certified Election Training (CET) Program for county election officials.
Launched by Secretary Schwab in 2022, the CET Program was the first program of its kind in Kansas. Training began in 2023, and the program has since graduated nine classes, totaling 134 graduates. It is administered by the Secretary of State’s Office and implemented under the leadership of Johnson County Election Commissioner Connie Schmidt.
A total of 15 county election officials completed the program. Each graduate received a certificate of completion and a commemorative CET lapel pin.
“Congratulations to this year’s graduates,” Schwab said. “These election officials have gone above and beyond to strengthen their knowledge and skills. Their commitment to professional development helps preserve institutional knowledge and supports a strong, secure, and uniform election system across Kansas.”
The Certified Election Training Program is designed to enhance county election procedures, promote statewide uniformity and prepare election officials to implement new policies and procedures. The comprehensive curriculum builds upon the annual statewide and biannual regional training provided by the Secretary of State’s Office.
