Notice of Hearing
Pursuant to K.S.A. 75-37,143(d), the State Building Advisory Commission will conduct a public hearing at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2023, in Suite 1200, 12th Floor, Eisenhower State Office Building, 700 SW Harrison St., Topeka, Kansas. Check in at the front desk with security is required.
The purpose of the hearing is for the public to have an opportunity to comment on a request from the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) to utilize Construction Manager (CM) At-Risk alternate project delivery method for the planned KUMC Cancer Center Research Building.
This project was developed with the following goals:
- Improve efficiencies, strengthen collaboration, and support inter-professional health care learning.
- Unify cancer research groups in a single location per National Cancer Institute (NCI) direction.
- Improve the intersection of the research community and the clinical groups to aid in collaboration.
- To improve construction timelines through integrated work with architects, contractors, and owner.
- Meet deadlines for the financial expectations created by NIH, NIST and HRSA funding. With the above goals in mind, a 250,000 square foot building is proposed that co-locates all the research labs, office space, imaging, and a new state of the art vivarium.
The project construction budget is $200,000,000.
