The Kansas Department of Health and Environment, Division of Health Care Finance (KDHE-DHCF) is amending the Kansas Medicaid State Plan. During drug shortages identified by the Food and Drug Administration, Kansas Medicaid will cover prescribed drugs that are not Covered Outpatient Drugs (including drugs that are authorized for import by the Food and Drug Administration) when medically necessary.

The proposed effective date for the State Plan Amendment (SPA) is October 1, 2024.
