Notice of Water Quality Certification
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has drafted a water quality certification per Section 401 of the Clean Water Act (CWA) requested by Wildhorse River Works, Inc. on behalf of Roger W. and Carolyn J. Warren Revocable Trust, for a Section 404 of the CWA #NWK-2025-00048 at https://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/Media/Public-Notices.
The project is one stabilization site totaling 2,850 feet of the eroding left descending streambank of the Kansas River located in Lots 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 in survey or reserve Number 11 of the Kaw or Kansas Half Breed Lands in Township 11 South, Range 17E of the 6th Prime Meridian according to a recorded Survey of said Reserve Number 11, all in Jefferson County, Kansas. This project will require the placement of 3,185 cubic yards of clean concrete rubble to be placed in/and on the bank of the Kansas River to reduce erosion along the streambank. All disturbed areas will be seeded, mulched, and planted with native grasses.
The draft certification will be posted on the KDHE website at https://www.kdhe.ks.gov/1095/Section-401-Water-Quality-Certification on or before February 13, 2025. Persons wishing to comment on the referenced draft document must submit their comments in writing by email to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment at KDHE.NPS@ks.gov by March 13, 2025, if they wish to have their comments considered in the formulation of final determinations for 401 regarding this public notice.
